KAYODE ODEJAYI'S header early in the second half condemned Orient to defeat as their four-game unbeaten home run came to an end.

O's, hit by injuries and suspensions, suffered another blow, when keeper Jamie Jones was knocked unconscious in the first minute and had to be stretchered off.

The home side looked hesitant early on, but gradually fought their way back into the contest.

However, Colchester unbeaten in six games, started the second half brightly and were rewarded when Odejayi headed the only goal of the game following a 54th-minute corner.

O's boss Geraint Williams reflected afterwards: It was a frustrating day and a poor match. The incidents we are talking about are a goalkeeper getting knocked out and a scuffle in the six yard box.

"We were very disappointed to concede from a set piece, because we knew that was their biggest threat."

Williams confirmed that Jones had recovered consciousness and added: "We're hopeful everything is okay. He has come round and everything seems fine. But obviously you have to be careful with these things and we'll keep an eye on him.
