A Dagenham couple were up before the sun to make sure their royal knees up in Mayfield Road was a bash to remember.

Marion King, who named her home Buckingham Palace for the day, told the Post: “Myself and my husband Liam got up at 4.30am to start getting everything ready. There’s been a lot of organising, but it’s worth it.

“Despite a bit of rain earlier, everyone’s having a great time. A party like this is a brilliant way of getting to know your neighbours.”

Ruth Bradford, 83, added: “I went to a street party for both the Coronation and the Silver Jubilee. It’s great that people are still organising them today.”
