Women have been knitting clouds while having a bit of a natter as they prepare for the official opening of a new community centre.

The Rivergate Centre, in Minter Road, Barking, has been open for a year, but will hold an official launch week from September 20.

The Knit and Natter group, who meet every week, have knitted different coloured clouds which will hang from the ceiling during the special occasion.

The centre, which forms part of Barking’s new riverside development, runs a number of activities, rents rooms and will soon offer sports facilities , including AstroTurf, netball and basketball courts. For more information call 020 8724 1631.
