FORMER Orient manager Martin Ling has emerged as a surprise contender to take over at Hibernian, as the Scottish Premier League side are looking for a new manager following the resignation of Mixu Paatelainen last Friday.
Ling has been working for Hibs since leaving the O's, setting up a scouting network in England for them, and identifying players that could make their mark at Easter Road.
During that time it seems he has impressed chairman Rod Petrie.
Ling said: "I haven't spoken to anyone at Hibs since Mixu resigned.
"All I can say is that I am a manager who is out of work and, of course, I would be interested in a top job like Hibs."
The former O's chief had been linked with the managerial vacancy at Port Vale, but it seems that Micky Adams has emerged as the favourite.
