FORMER Orient boss Martin Ling is one of the leading contenders for the vacant manager's job at Cambridge United.
He has already been interviewed by U's chairman George Rolls, who said: "Martin is one of the potential candidates, I will be recommending to the board to place on our shortlist."
Ling watched United draw 1-1 with a West Ham XI on Saturday and Rolls, who was a young goalkeeper with Orient in the 1990s, confirmed he has drawn up a short-list of three or four names he will take to the board of directors for a final decision.
Cambridge have made the play-offs for the last two seasons, but parted company with boss Gary Brabin last week.
