A protest staged in a bid to stop the opening of a mosque in Dagenham passed off peacefully on Saturday.
Fifty people joined the demo from Chadwell Heath Station to Green Lane in Dagenham, where a community centre and Muslim place of worship is to be unveiled by the autumn.
Twenty police supervised the protest led by the English Nationalist Alliance.
The English Defence League is planning another demonstration in Green Lane this Saturday and the British National Party the following Saturday.
