The council will sell a former care home to housing developers.

A number of bids for Mayesbrook residential care home, in Bevan Avenue, Dagenham, have already been received.

At a cabinet meeting last night councillors agree that the home is to be sold.

Various conditions have been attached to the sale including that the homes be 100 per private, that they be houses rather than flats, and that they feature a minimum of three bedrooms.

A report, put before cabinet members, said the authority had been unable to find a use for the home since it shut in 2007.
