Builders working on the Gascoigne Estate redevelopment have received glowing praise from inspectors.
The rebranded Weavers Quarter, Barking housing project received an ‘exceptional’ score in all five areas by the Considerate Constructors Scheme.
Saima Ashraf, deputy leader of Barking and Dagenham Council, visited the site this morning to congratulate staff.
“The whole team deserve this score due to their outstanding commitment,” said project director Jerome Magnier.
Independent inspectors awarded the construction site 45 points out of a maximum 50 - covering its “community, environment, appearance, safety and workforce”.
This puts the estate in the top three per cent of building projects in the UK, Jerome added.
Developers say the scheme will feature more than 1,500 new homes, a community centre, shops and offices once complete.
