Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has allocated £11.6 million to be split between London boroughs for transport projects.
The money can be used for things such as road safety, encouraging walking and cycling and improving air quality.
This brings City Hall’s overall annual spend on local projects to £237 million.
The funding has become available because the mayor has been handed more money than anticipated in business rates, which local authorities give to city hall.
Matt Winfield, London director for cycling charity Sustrans, said the funding “is yet another step in the right direction towards enabling more of us to get about on foot and by bike.”
“Londoners want and need better streets and cleaner air. We look forward to working with boroughs to create a healthier, more active and less polluted London.”
It is up to individual councils to decide how they spend the money.
