Third Labour councillor defects to Socialist Labour Party in Barking and Dagenham

Labour have lost a third councillor to Arthur Scargill’s Socialist Labour Party.

Cllr Gerald Vincent follows in the footsetps of Cllrs Barry Poulton and Jim McDermott in defecting to the trade-union supporting party.

The Heath councillor is the seventh Labour casualty in as many months, with four ex-members having recently stepped in the opposite direction to join Nigel Farage’s UK Independence party.

SLP president Andrew Jordan said it was “great” to have Cllr Vincent join his party.
