A lorry driver believed to be in his 40s has died following a crash in Barking.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the junction of River Road and Thames Road just before 1pm, after a collision between two lorries and a bollard.

One of the drivers was rushed to an east London hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

Next of kin have been informed and officers remain at the scene.

No arrests have been made.

River Road remains closed southbound from Bastable Avenue.

Traffic is tailing back onto the A13 Alfreds Way slip-roads in both directions and the eastbound carriageway is slow-moving from Beckton Alps.

Route 387 buses are subject to diversions in both directions.
