A lorry full of Coca-Cola caught fire on the A13 near Goresbrook Interchange this morning causing traffic to slow.
Firefighters from Dagenham were called at 2.30am to help recover the burnt-out vehicle.
The driver was said to be at the wheel when the fire started but drove it to the side of the road and got out safely.
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
A spokesman for the fire service said the lorry was “full of Coca-Cola bottles and tins”.
The lorry is being taken apart to be removed safely and has caused tailbacks, although lanes on the A13 have stayed open.
