A man has been charged with racially aggravated actual bodily harm (ABH) and possessing a weapon after assaulting an OAP in a Dagenham shopping centre.

Police were called to The Mall on Dagenham Heathway at 11.15am on Saturday to find a man in his 60s and a woman suffering from injuries.

Allen Coltriene, 35, of Westfield Road, Dagenham, was charged on Sunday (May 24) with two counts of racially aggravated ABH, two counts of ABH and possession of an offensive weapon.

Mr Coltriene appeared in custody at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on May 25.

The male victim was taken to an east London hospital for treatment but his injuries were not serious.
