A 26-year-old man charged with grievous bodily harm (GBH) was tasered by police in Dagenham yesterday after failing to appear in court.

Officers from Territorial Support Group used the stun gun as he tried to resist arrest at a home in Chittys Lane.

The man, who had not shown up at Snaresbrook Crown Court, was then arrested and taken to an east London police station.

He will appear in custody at the same court today.
