The midfielder was joined by former West Ham player Bobby Zamora at Tantony Green, Marks Gate on Monday to meet youngsters participating in the Mark Noble Football Academy and sign a few autographs for their young fans.

The academy, a free football camp run during school holidays, was set up to provide children with a fun and friendly environment to learn new skills.

Barking-born Zamora, who retired from the game last year, said: “It’s amazing to see such a strong turn out and a great mix of kids. You never know, we could be inspiring the next West Ham captain!”

Noble, who grew up in nearby Canning Town, added: “It’s great to be able to come to where it all started for us and share our skills and knowledge with the local kids.”
