IN HIS second official appearance since taking office, London's new Mayor, Boris Johnson, visited Dagenham Fire Station.

He arrived this morning (Tuesday) with newly-appointed Deputy Mayor for Young People, Ray Lewis, and met teenagers involved in the Fire Brigade's 'Local Intervention Fire Education' aimed to teach them practical skills of fire-fighting.

An impressed Boris Johnson said: "We hear too much about gun and knife crime in our city, and programmes like LIFE give young people something positive to do.
