KIND-HEARTED residents braved heavy snow and icy roads to deliver bread and milk to elderly people stranded in their homes.
Reede Road Tenants and Residents Association, in Dagenham, offered their services on local radio after the borough experienced its worst snow fall in 18 years.
When six pensioners took up the offer Darren and Caroline Rodwell and Dominic Twomey headed down the shops, picked up some essential food items and dropped them off to each individual.
Mr Rodwell, chairman of the TRA, came up with the idea after being forced to stay home from work because of the white-out.
He said: "I thought if I'm having problems getting to work then there must be a lot of elderly people who are struggling to get out at all. With all the snow and ice just going down to the shops would have been very difficult for many of them.
"I'm glad we did it. They seemed pleased that someone was thinking about them.
