THERE was cup final glory for Woodford Wells and Mossford in the Ilford Table Tennis League.
In the Division Two final, Woodford Wells thirds beat Mossford fourths 5-4, with Wells going into a 4-0 lead with wins in the opening doubles.
Mick Ward, Stuart Spurling and Eddie Davies were victorious in singles competition over Dave Humble, Ashley Bean and David Green.
Mossford fought back with victories in the second doubles with a good win by Bean over Davies.
Ward beat Green to give Wells a 5-2 lead with the last two matches going to Mossford.
The second clash between the clubs came in the handicap final, where Mossford sixths had a 60- point advantage over Wells fourths, which meant that an 11-9 win in each of the 36 games would give Wells victory.

However, things did not go according to plan for Wells as Mossford won the opening doubles 42-36. Wins for Adrian Joseph over John Hume and Shahid Khan over Lee Marson enabled Wells to reduce the deficit by 23 points.
Then came the key game as Mossford's Hitesh Magudia beat Kevin Carby by 10 points. Had Carby gained 10 more points, the final score would have been different.
He made amends with his 44-30 defeat of Marson, but it was not enough to save Wells from an eight-point reverse (482-474).
