Traffic was held up on the A13 in Dagenham during this-morning's rush-hour following a collision between a motorbike and a van in which the rider was injured.

It caused congestion around the Goresbrook interchange with Ripple Road at around 6.30pm.

The motorbike rider was treated by paramedics at the scene for leg injuries and later taken to hospital, but not thought to be serious.

A woman riding pillion was unhurt. No-one else was injured.

London ambulance service sent a single responder in a car and an ambulance crew to the scene. The fire brigade was also present, but was not needed.

All three westbound lanes were blocked at one point, with congestion tailing back to the Wennington Interchange at Rainham, but later cleared.
