A MOTHER and her child were rescued by fire fighters after becoming trapped in a flat in Dagenham.

Dagenham Fire Brigade responded to a call just before 9pm on Saturday, June 14.

A small fire had broken out in the kitchen of the property, on the fifth floor of Parkside House.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "One adult and one child were helped out of the flat by the crew wearing breathing apparatus.

"The fire was extinguished by about 9.20 pm.
