STRATFORD WESLEYANS ended their season with a narrow defeat against Woodford Green on Saturday.

They had started well after losing the toss, as Hughie McGuire struck in his first over.

Muzzaffer then put the Wesleyan bowling to the sword, smashing the ball to all parts of the ground in his 94.

Colin Vaughan eventually dismissed him though, and this started a good fightback, as Green were restricted to 219 all out.

Vaughan finished with figures of 4-54, while McGuire took 3-40.

Wesleyans' reply stuttered at the start, but Daniel Cockley (32), Paul Cockley (45), Joe Bronka (24) and Joe Keep (52) pushed them towards an unlikely win.

With overs and wickets in hand they required 27 runs, but the re-introduction of Majeed into the bowling attack blew away the tail and any hope Stratford had of winning.
