It can be a tricky task to keep towels fluffy and soft over time, but there is a way to solve the problem thanks to an item you'll likely have in your cupboard already.
Following repeated use and endless washing cycles, towels can become a bit stiff and rough.
This occurs because the constant application of washing powder and fabric conditioners slowly breaks down the material's fibres.
However, there is a way to get around this by using vinegar, according to The Secret Linen Store.
How can vinegar help keep towels fluffy and soft?
Vinegar can help revitalise a towel by reviving its suppleness and absorption capabilities.
The Secret Linen Store explains: "If your towels are very stiff and scratchy, try adding around 250ml of vinegar to a wash along with your laundry liquid.
"Add it to the washing machine drum just before you load and set the cycle going.
"Don't worry - it won't make your washing smell like a bag of chips as the scent dissipates during the washing process."
They also suggest hanging your towels outdoors to dry after washing, before popping them in for a quick 20-minute tumble dry on a low heat setting.
The organisation adds: "This will help agitate the fibres, stopping them from sticking together, which will result in softer towels."
Alongside this, it's also crucial that you're laundering your towels in the correct way, as that can impact their fluffiness too, The Daily Record reports.
This involves keeping towels separate from your other washing, as fluff from different materials can gather on your towel over time.

You should also prevent cramming too much into your machine.
Another crucial pointer is to "go easy" on the washing powder, as excessive amounts will prove difficult to eliminate during the rinse cycle.
Similar to the fluff from other materials, it will accumulate over time and add to your towels' rigidity.
