The creator behind John Challis' final project is calling for his unseen Only Fools and Horses documentary to air on television.

A Marriage Made in Peckham, directed by Lazar Vukovic, features the late actor and his on-screen wife Sue Holderness reminiscing about their years on the beloved BBC sitcom.

Challis, who died of cancer in September 2021 at the age of 79, recorded the documentary just weeks before his death.

Mr Vukovic said: "This was the last time John stepped in front of a camera, and he spent it doing what he did best – making people laugh alongside Sue.

"We wanted to wait for the right moment, and with the 45th anniversary and the love we’re seeing for Only Fools right now, that moment has come.

"We’re looking for a broadcaster who will give John’s farewell the home it deserves."

The director, known for his 2020 documentary Boycie in Belgrade, has more than four hours of footage with Challis and Holderness.

He believes the material could be edited into a two-hour special or a two-part series.

Challis first appeared as Boycie in the second episode of Only Fools and Horses, Go West Young Man, which aired in September 1981.

Holderness joined the show four years later, and both remained until the final episode, Sleepless in Peckham, which aired on Christmas Day in 2003.

Last week, the first two-parter of Only Fools and Horses: The Lost Archive aired on U+Gold, featuring unseen moments and interviews with cast members including Sir David Jason, Tessa Peake-Jones, and Gwyneth Strong.

Helen Nightingale, UKTV’s head of factual entertainment commissioning, said: "With series one focusing on ten or so much-loved episodes, we have barely scratched the surface of unseen footage from this most beloved of comedy shows.

"Series two promises even more insight into just what it took to create such a fantastic and much-loved series."

The programme included a never-before-seen scene from the 1991 episode The Class of '62, showing Raquel auditioning in a nightclub as Del Boy and Rodney watched from the audience.
