KIRKLAND LAING the talented welterweight of the 1970's and 80's is the subject of a biography called 'The Gifted One - Kirkland Laing - through the eyes of others,' written by Oliver Jarrett with all profits from the book going to the former boxer.

Former world champion Charlie Magri and British title-holder Sylvester Mittee, both stablemates of Laing during their days at Canning Town's Royal Oak gym with manager Terry Lawless, are among the contributors to the book.

The book will be launched on Sunday at the Old Red Cow pub (upstairs bar) Long Lane, Smithfield EC1A on Sunday (12 noon onwards).
