Sports teams, cadet groups and schools are being encouraged to take part in the borough’s annual youth parade.

The parade, which is taking place for the fourth consecutive year, aims to celebrate young people in Barking and Dagenham and the contribution they make to the area.

It will begin in Barking Park at 2pm on Sunday, September 17 and travel through Barking town centre before ending at Abbey Green, where there will be a free family fun day.

Cllr Saima Ashraf, deputy leader and cabinet member for community leadership and engagement, said: “The last three youth parades have been wonderfully vibrant events because of the number of youngsters that were involved. I’d like this year’s parade to be bigger and better than ever, so if you run a youth group then don’t hesitate to get in contact.”
