Pedestrian killed in collision with moped in Dagenham

A man has died tonight after a collision with a moped in Green Lane, Dagenham, near the junction with Grafton Road.
Police were called at about 8.30pm to reports of a moped in collision with a pedestrian. London Ambulance Service attended and the pedestrian - a man in his 50s - was pronounced dead at the scene. Inquiries are under way to trace next of kin.
A male – believed to be a pillion passenger on the moped – has been taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries. He remains there in a critical condition.
The rider of the moped did not remain at the scene.
Police were contacted by London Ambulance Service a short while later and told that he was en route to hospital with serious injuries.
He remains there in a critical condition.
Road closures remain in place and officers from East Area Command and the Roads and Transport Policing Command are on scene.
No one has been arrested, inquiries continue.
