Singers belted out tunes in a Dagenham park as they took part in the national Bandstand Marathon to mark the last day of the Paralympic Games.

For four hours artists from the area took turns performing on the temporary stage which was erected in Pondfield Park on Sunday.

They were some of the thousands of people across the country who performed simultaneously as part of the Bandstand Marathon 2012.

The Dagenham event, which included activities for children, was organised by Reede Road Tenants and Residents Association to showcase local talent and celebrate the final day of the Paralympics.

TRA events co-ordinator Julie Impey said the day was a big success: “Everyone had a lot of fun. It was a fantastic chance for local singers to show off their talents and a way for us to mark the end of the fantastic Paralympic Games.

“To make it even better the sun was out.”
