RISING prices at the petrol pumps have sparked regular checks to ensure drivers are getting the most for their money.

Trading Standards have been inspecting garages in the borough for correct fuel prices and accurate measures.

However the results indicate that pumps in Barking and Dagenham are working properly and motorists should feel confident they are not being ripped off.

Reasons to suspect this might be; if you think the petrol gauge on your car has not moved enough, if you hear air coming from the petrol pump or if the pump did not read zero before you started to fill up your car.

The Havering based north east London Metrology Partnership also investigates complaints by customers.
