SPINNER Tim Phillips has signed a new one-year deal at the Ford County Ground
The 28-year-old has been with Essex since 1999 and earnt his county cap in 2006, but injury restricted him to just three County Championship matches this season.
Essex first team coach Paul Grayson said: "Tim is a valuable member of our playing squad.
"When he is fit he gives good contributions throughout a campaign.
"I know Tim is looking for a big season in 2010, he will be spending this winter in Cape Town.
"We are confident he will come back fit and strong and make a big impact on our Division One campaign."
Phillips follows young batsman Jaik Mickleburgh, who signed a contract extension lat week that will keep him at Essex until 2012.
