A picture of a woman holding a baby was uploaded to a mobile phone theft victim’s online account just hours after her handset was stolen.

Police are appealing for anyone who knows the identity of the woman in the picture to come forward to help them track down the stolen iPhone.

The woman herself is not a suspect and police said she was not involved in the theft in the Parsloes area of Dagenham on January 18 at 4.18pm.

Three hours later the image was uploaded to the victim’s iCloud account, an online account which automatically stores photos taken on the phone.

Det Con Jamie Humm said: “This lady may well have vital information relating to a robbery or may have unknowingly purchased a stolen phone.”

Anyone who can identify this woman should contact Barking and Dagenham police on 020 3276 1168 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
