Staff at an animal rescue centre are making a final plea to trace the owners of an adorable Pomeranian puppy before he is re-homed.

The dog was found wandering near Dagenham and Redbridge football club in Victoria Road, Dagenham, on Thursday last week by a kind-hearted man who took him home and launched an appeal on social media to find his owner.

But when no-one came forward Hornchurch Pet Services, who have named him Teddy, took him in.

Donna Evans, from the centre, says the lack of success at reuniting the dog with his owner is a puzzle as the unchipped pooch is in good health and was clearly well cared for.

“His coat is in beautiful condition, he is in really good shape and he is not underweight,” Donna said.

“We usually return this type of dog quickly. It’s just a bit of a mystery because you usually pop the dog up on the internet and within a couple of days you find the owner.”

Such a cute puppy was never going to have to wait long for a home and Teddy already has a possible new place lined up.

Donna knows Teddy would be loved and well cared for there but wants to give his owner a final chance to come forward.

And she is keeping an open mind about why they might not have yet made themselves known.

“Somebody is maybe looking for him,” she said. “There may be circumstances we don’t know about. What if someone has been on holiday?

“He is just a lovely dog. He is a typical puppy, very playful and bouncing around the place. He loves children and he loves playing.”
