STREETS were cordoned off as police raided a house after reports that a firearm was being kept at the property.

Officers cordoned off Vincent Road and Elstow Road at around 4.50pm on Thursday, April 24, after receiving information regarding a gun.

Some residents arriving home had to waited anxiously at the edge of the street waiting to see what unfolded, while others already home were told to remain inside.

After entering the property, police searched the house without finding any weapon.

They left empty-handed and made no arrests. The cordon was lifted at around 6.30pm.

One woman who lives in Vincent Road said: "It was very worrying. I was outside in my garden when I saw the police pull up and the road was roped off.
