A Pc who sprayed CS gas in the face of a handcuffed prisoner has been sacked by the Met Police.

Pc Anjay Singh, who is attached to the East Area Command Unit, sprayed the man who had been arrested for assault, while he was being driven to a police station on October last year.

Following his actions he was found guilty of common assault at City of London Magistrates’ Court in August and sentenced to a 12-month conditional discharge.

He lodged an appeal which was dismissed and resulted in his sentence being increased and he was ordered to pay addition costs.

On Friday a special case hearing found he had breached the standards of professional behaviour in respect of authority, respect and courtesy, discreditable conduct and use of force.

He was dismissed without notice and has been placed on a police barred list which means he will never be employed again by another force.
