Post will be delivered across Barking and Dagenham this Sunday as part of a Royal Mail pilot project.

Dagenham delivery office will be one of 100 nationwide to open specially for the trial, which is aimed at making things easier for online shoppers.

Addresses within the M25 will receive parcels and the office off Wood Lane will open between noon and 4pm.

Nick Landon, managing director of Royal Mail parcels, said: “We are continuing to be more customer responsive and provide more options for people to receive items they have ordered online.

“I am delighted to pilot Sunday afternoon opening at 100 of our delivery offices across the UK with the highest parcel volumes, and Sunday deliveries to addresses within the M25.”

Royal Mail has about 1,400 delivery offices nationwide. Nearby Ilford, Grays and Walthamstow will also open on Sunday afternoon.
