West Ham's reigning schools champion Alfie Price booked his place in this weekend's quarter-finals when he won on points against Max Higgins of Watford last Saturday.

Home Counties champion Higgins entered the ring at Berringsfield, near Oxford, with high expectations after stopping his previous two opponents.

However, classy Price dazzled his opponent with his superior movement, sending him the wrong way and countering effectvely on the way to an easy points win.

Another Hammers reigning champion in action, Simon O'Driscoll, outpointed Gaurav Saroye of North Herts.

The much taller Saroye was very negative, but the young Hammer broke down his rival's defences, working to both head and body, landing with heavy shots to take his place in the quarter-finals.

Patrick Ellis having his fifth bout of the competition outpointed John Dooley of Stevenage, he once again showed impressive skills, picking his opponent off to cruise his way to points victory.

Tom Beaney, Luke Saunders and Joe Tokeley all recieved walkovers to the quarter- finals which take place on Sunday at Blackshots, Grays.
