A PRISONER charged with armed robbery is on the run after escaping from guards outside Barking Court.

Tony Albert Turner, 27, arrived at the back of the courthouse in a Serco van at around 10.30am today (Wednesday).

Three armed men jumped out of a parked car, threatened the guards, and unchained Turner.

The gang sped off in a green Jaguar which was later found abandoned by police.

Workers from a nearby building site told the POST they noticed the car parked at the back of the court from 9.50am.

Turner has connections in East London, Essex and Kent and is described as white with receding brown hair and green eyes.

He is 5ft 10in and has a distinctive tattoo on his left arm with the name 'Kirsten'.

Police have warned that he should not be approached.

Anyone with information as to his whereabouts should call 999 immediately.
