THE HOME Office has enlisted the help of Dagenham students on its mission to design out crime.

Ten pupils from Robert Clack School, in Gosfield Road, are taking part in a government backed project to develop new and innovative crime-proof design solutions.

The Year 10 youngsters met with professional designers last week to speak about their own experiences of crime.

They made lists of areas which may benefit from a new design approach, including the school environment, bus shelters and mobile phones, and ideas will go to Home Secretary Jacqui Smith.

On hand to help at the workshop was Sir John Sorrell, of the Sorrell Foundation, an organisation which works with youngsters to improve quality of life through design.
