A date has been announced for the reopening of Barking branch of Lidl.

The store in Ripple Road has been closed for the last three months so it could be refurbished and modernised.

Today the company told the Post it will open its doors to the public on June 21.

The new look store will boast improved merchandising, more fresh food lines and extra parking spaces.

Oliver Barrett, Lidl UK’s regional head of property, said: “We would like to thank all those who have played a part in improving our Lidl store in Barking and we can’t wait to re-open our doors and serve our multi-award winning products to the local community again.”

More than two thirds of Lidl’s fruit and vegetables are British sourced.

The Germany supermarket’s popularity has increased with year on year sales soring by 10.4 per cent.

There are two stores nearby in Dagenham – one in Heathway and the other in Longbridge Road.
