LEGENDARY R&B singer/guitarist Chuck Berry celebrates his 83rd birthday on Sunday, but he has no intention of retiring.

In fact, he kicks off a UK tour next month and will be at the Troxy, Commercial Road, Limehouse on November 28.

Berry is a musical icon, one of the pioneers of rock and roll, who brought the worlds of black and white together in song.

He became famous as a showman, making his audiences laugh as well as dance.

His hits include Maybellene, Johnny B Goode and Roll Over, Beethoven and his music inspired The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.

He was the first person inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

He's also been to jail three times - for joyriding as a young man, after a controversial prostitution trial which many felt was racially biased, and in 1979 for tax evasion.

His latest UK tour starts in Sheffield and he'll be at Hammersmith Town Hall the day before the Troxy gig.
