Firefighters extinguished a house fire in Barking this morning.

Thirty-five firefighters brought the blaze in Upney Lane under control shortly after 12.30pm.

No injuries have been reported in the fire, which destroyed half of the roof and loft. The first and second floors also sustained minor damage.

Crews attended from Barking, Ilford, East Ham and Dagenham after they were called at 10am.

The cause of fire is under investigation.
