Rush Green library consultation

PUBLISHED: 13:25 02 May 2013

A meeting was held on Monday night to discuss the future of Rush Green library.

It was the last of a number of public consultations on libraries in Barking and Dagenham.

At the end of last year, meetings were held to discuss Marks Gate, Robert Jeyes, Thames View and Valence libraries.

The decision on the five libraries’ fate will be decided on at a select committee meeting in June.

A notice in Rush Green library suggested the service could move to the Barking and Dagenham College learning centre.

The borough’s libraries have faced several closures over the past year.

Wantz library in Rainham Road North closed in March 2012, followed by Markyate library in September.

On March 28 Castle Green library was closed for community use and will now be used as a resource for pupils at Jo Richardson Community School only.
