There are still heavy traffic jams on the A406 in Barking after a large oil spill in Redbridge caused major delays this morning.

The fuel spillage, which is believed to have happened at around 7am, has caused huge traffic jams along the North Circular throughout Redbridge and Barking.

Clean up crews are still believed to be on the scene attempting to clear the road.

Diverting traffic is still causing delays on Cranbrook Road from The Drive – where there are temporary traffic lights – and back through Ilford onto the Romford Road junction with Aldersbrook Road.

Westbound Ilford Hill is slow approaching the A406 with tailbacks through Ilford and back onto Winston Way.

Drivers are advised to expect delays and use other routes.
