DAGENHAM 88 runner Rob Sargent continued his preparations for the London Marathon with two events in the space of two weeks.
First he took part in the Essex 20-mile Championship at Great Bromley, Colchester, where, on an ideal day for running, he showed his form by finishing 60th in two hours 27 minutes 16 seconds to place eighth in the M50 age category.
Seven days later he stepped down in distance to compete in the 3,000m at the British Masters Championship at Lea Valley Athletics Centre.
Although his distance training dulled his speed a little, Sargent was pleased to come home in ninth place in the M50 category in 11.46.28.
