YOUNGSTERS whose street procession in vibrant hand-made costumes delighted visitors to the summer's Newham Carnival have received medals as a thank you for making the event such a hit.
And there was an engraved silver plate award for their school.
Paul Underwood, head teacher at St Winefride's School in Manor Park, pictured receiving his award from Mayor Sir Robin Wales, is among the last of the many schools and organisation being honoured.
He said: "The carnival procession is an important part of the Mayor's Newham Show weekend and one that as a community we can all enjoy together.
"It is going from strength to strength and I am looking forward to seeing it again next year.
