Robot Wars came to automated life at a Dagenham school earlier this week – putting a new spark into the study of science.
Over two days, the entire Year 7 cohort at Dagenham Park Church of England School took part in a robotics workshop.
Led by Polish scientists at Newham-based company RoboLabs, the students created robots out of lego and programmed them to seek out a fellow automaton, and use their motorised arms to attack one another.
“It was interesting and surprisingly fun, because I didn’t expect the robots to actually fight,” said Year 7 pupil Ivan. “I want to do it again!”
“It was exciting,” added Amith. “It was the first time and I didn’t know what to do. I enjoyed it.”
RoboLabs run after-school clubs and birthday parties as well as school workshops. To find out more, go to robolabs.co.uk
