DAGENHAM & REDBRIDGE slumped to a 2-1 defeat at Shrewsbury Town on Saturday. Here is how we rated the players.

GK: Tony Roberts - 6 - barely tested throughout the game, but would have been fuming with his defence for the sloppy goals they conceded.

RB: Abu Ogogo - 6 - walked the proverbial tightrope after clattering Craig Disley in the first half and did well to put the constant taunting from the home crowd behind him.

LB: Jamie Day - 5 - another disappointing display from the Peterborough loanee as he was caught in possession once again while his passing was also awry.

CB: Mark Arber - 6 - proved pretty solid throughout the game, but with Daggers failing around him, it was always going to be a tough 90 minutes.

CB: Scott Doe - 6 - why he was sent off is anyone's guess, as he certainly didn't throw the elbow that referee Craig Pawson claimed. Not as impressive as in recent games, but was up against the in-form Dave Hibbert.

RW: Danny Green - 6 - good early pass to set up Benson for the opener, but after that his crosses were too often cut out by the first defender.

CM: - Danny Spiller - 6 - always looks comfortable in possession, but struggled to make his mark on the game as Daggers were often overrun and out-battled in the middle of the park.

CM: Marlon Pack - 5 - started the game well and looked very tidy on the ball, but struggled as the game wore on and was often caught out of position when Shrews attacked.

LW: Peter Gain - 7 - STAR MAN - was the most threatening Daggers midfielder as he put in a decent display on the flank and looked their most likely outlet. Almost grabbed a point with a late drive that was tipped over.

CF: Josh Scott - 5 - finds it difficult to replicate his barnstorming home form when Daggers are away and too often his first touch let him down, as Daggers gifted possession back to their hosts.

CF: Paul Benson - 7 - marvellous finish for the opener and was a threat whenever the ball came to him. Unfortunately he was often let outnumbered and with little support, so faded as the game wore on.

SUBS

Roman Vincelot (Scott 73) - 7 - thrown into the fray after Doe's red card and his first taste of English football. Looks quite a find too as he also showed a touch of quality during his brief spell on the pitch.

Wes Thomas (Green 80) - 7- came on to try and add his pace to the frontline and did just that as he didn't let the home defence settle. Shame that he wasn't introduced earlier on as Daggers hadn't looked like scoring.

Darren Currie (Spiller 85) - 6 - always looks confident on the ball and again, maybe he would have been better having 25-30 minutes, rather than just the five.

SUBS NOT USED: Chris Lewington, Graeme Montgomery, Phil Walsh, Jon Nurse.
