Heavy sleet and snow has begun falling tonight as a severe weather warning is issued for the capital.

There is currently congestion in and out of Barking because of long delays on the A13 northbound, while forecasters have urged people to take care while driving.

Passengers are being warned of potential road, rail and air disruption if snow settles, and ice could prove a hazard on the roads.

Most train lines are currently running well, with only minor delays reported on some underground lines.
