RESIDENTS, fellow colleagues, and community leaders will this week wave a fond farewell to a police officer who has changed the face of a notorious Barking estate.

Dedicated Thames Ward Safer Neighbourhood Team leader, Sergeant Simon Whalley, begins a new post as an Inspector in Waltham Forest later this month.

The popular officer leaves a long legacy of success in his wake, particularly for his work with the SNT from their base on the Thames View estate, Barking, since 2004.

Sgt Whalley told the POST: "Being moved to Thames View was a big challenge because our SNT was one of the first of its kind in London, so we had to work out what it was all about."
