I WAS reading the Sun newspaper last week, and an article caught my eye.

It was a story about a ghost being seen regularly in a hospital in Derby.

The spectre was apparently a black-clad figure wearing a cloak, who was stalking the wards at the town's new Royal Hospital.

It said the hospital managers were so worried that they had called in an exorcist to try to get rid of their unwanted visitor.

It reminded me of the time when my wife worked at the old Manor Joinery factory in Rainham.

They had a ghostly Roman soldier who used to march through the factory.

Just across from the premises over the A13 is a Roman cemetery, so stranger things have happened.

The A13 is called Ripple Road now, so at some stage this must have been a dry road that became the major road which we have today.

I wonder who has seen this soldier or any other ghost.

Eastbury House in Barking is another site said to have a spirit wandering its rooms.
