Asda Active sports day in Dagenham

More than 300 school children from primary schools in the borough took part in a huge sports day last week.

Run by Asda’s ‘Active’ programme, they competed in a variety of athletics events including the long jump, shot put and sprinting.

The day at James Cambell Primary School in Langley Crescent, Dagenham, was also attended by local athletes Bianca Williams and Jenna O’Reilly, who are being supported by Asda in 2013 as part of a programme run in partnership with the charity SportsAid to help the next generation of sporting talent.

Tim Scott, Asda’s community projects manager, said, “We are passionate about supporting our communities and the Asda Active events play an important part in helping us to do this. You can tell just by looking at the smiles what a great day it has been and to see the youngsters having fun whilst getting active is even more pleasing.”
